TKA Essex Open, Clacton – March 2017

A small squad of 5 competed at the TKA Essex open in Clacton last weekend (12/3/17) coming away with more trophies to add to this years success.

Sebastian Lambert competed in a large kata category with Toby Fane, where he claimed the silver, Toby didn’t manage to win a place this time but more experience for him in the competition environment.

FEKO National Championships, Sheffield, 12th February 2017

Representing the Byakko Shotokan Karate Association (BSKA) at the FEKO national Championships and UWK England ranking event in Sheffield were John Gardiner, Helen Marsh and Amy Marsh who teamed up with Sensei Ady Gray’s squad.

Amy was unlucky in her Kata event (Girls 13-15 years) missing out on a bronze medal by a 0.1 margin, a great result for her nonetheless being so close to the top three in a national championship.

TKA English Karate Classic, Clacton – February 2017

The first competition of the year for the #JKGKarate squad was in Clacton-on-sea on the 5th February. 

With a few new members to the squad joining the more experienced competitors we had a good sized team of 12 who came away with 7 trophies, 2 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze.

Club grading and first disability Karate grading 26th November 2016

Congratulations to all who passed the grading last weekend, the overall standard has even further improved, a standard that we should all be proud of. 

20 students passed and received their new belts, the coming weeks at training will address some of the areas highlighted that need more work. 

The grading as usual consisted of kihon, kata and kumite and everyone showed that they had prepared well for the grading.

IKGA Kata championships, Southend, November 2016

Congratulations to the squad who competed at the IKGA kata championships held in Southend on 6th November 2016.

They managed to come away with 4 medals, 2 silver and 2 bronze.

Helen marsh, who also coached and officiated on the day won a silver medal and a bronze in the veterans and senior kata events.
