Congratulations to Amy Marsh on receiving the Jack Petchy Foundation award for “Outstanding Achiever” for her help on Saturday mornings with the Disability Karate classes. She provides invaluable help every week and has helped make a difference in the children’s lives.

The BSKA hosted Sensei Dave Hazard at the Hombu dojo up in Ripon, and Sensei John Gardiner, Helen Marsh and Amy Marsh made the journey up to train with him and Sensei Ady Gray and our BSKA friends.
Sensei Hazard deliver an excellent course as usual covering Kata Kanku Dai, kihon and kumite.
Next course up in Ripon with Sensei Hazard will be in November.
A small squad competed at the ESKF British International Open Championships held in London, with over 18 countries in attendance it was a very large and high standard event.
The squad came away with two bronze medals in hard fought categories.
Helen Marsh won bronze in women’s Veterans kata and John Gardiner won Bronze in the Mens Kata event.
Amy Marsh and Toby Fane also competed but didn’t manage to place this time.

The JKG squad were back in action at the AMA Southern Open Karate Championships, the squad of 6 came away with a gold and a bronze medal in this tough competition. With the WUKF World championships fast approaching many of the international competitors used this event as part of their preparation, as did our selected squad members competing in Dublin in June (John Gardiner, Helen Marsh, Megan Marsh and Amy Marsh).

The #JKGKarate squad were back in competition today at the AMA Southern Open championships.
The squad consisted of John Gardiner, Helen Marsh, Megan Marsh, Tiziana Lawrence, Amy Marsh and Sebastian Lambert.
First up were the girls Megan and Amy in the Pairs kata event where they reached the final 6 but finished just outside the medal positions.
