Competition Rules Seminar – JKG Karate Westcliff Dojo – March 2016

On Saturday 19th March JKG Karate hosted a competition rules seminar, presented by Helen Marsh (JKG assistant instructor, national level referee). 

The seminar covered the rules of both disciplines of karate competition; kata and kumite and explained these rules and how they impact the competitors themselves, the referees and officials and also the parents and supporters. 

Point scoring technique demonstrations were given competently by junior members Aaron Whitehouse and Matthew Rumsey.

Toyakwai East England Open Championships – March 2016

A small #JKGKarate squad of 4 made the short journey to Clacton to compete in the Toyakwai East England Open, our second championship of the year as a squad. 

The 4 of them managed to win 6 trophies between them, 1 Gold, 2 Silvers and 3 Bronze. 

More importantly than the results however is that each one of them showed a clear improvement from the last event in January, this is what it’s about at the moment.

FREE Competition Rules Seminar, 19th March 2016

We will be offering a free seminar on the WUKF competition rules on Saturday 19th March 12:30-13:30 (immediately after the training session from 11:00-12:30) @ St Peters Church Hall, Eastbourne Grove, Westcliff-on-sea, SS0 0QF. 

Parents are also welcome to attend.

Toyakwai Open Championships, February 2016 – Clacton

The JKG Karate squad started off the competitive year well in Clacton at the Toyakwai Open Championships winning 8 trophies from a squad of 6, 2 golds, 1 silver and 5 bronzes. 

Medallists were:

Megan Marsh:  

gold – women’s 16+ open grade Kata

Silver – mixed 16+ 1st Kyu and below Kata

Ronnie Withers:

Gold – cadet male Kata 15-20years 

Helen Marsh:

Bronze – Women’s 16+ open grade kata

Bronze- 30 years+  mixed Kata

Bronze – 40 years+ mixed Kata

Bronze – junior 5-4th Kyu mixed kata
